St. Peter's Episcopal Church

One of the first places we strolled into together in Uptown Charlotte would later become our church home. St. Peter's has the qualities we both value: great history, appreciation for sentiment, a warm welcome and wonderful character.

The church was organized in 1834 and the current building was completed in 1895. For those who know Scott well, it is no surprise that the history of St. Peter's impact on the community dating back to the Civil war drew his interest. During the war, the church raised money to provide Bibles and Prayer Books for soldiers. The congregation also established two hospitals which were incorporated into what is now Carolinas Medical Center, where Diana honed her skills which led to the founding her company, Sparrow Systems. 

These sentimental connections, together with the genuine love and compassion demonstrated by Father Ollie Rencher during our visits with him, make this the perfect place for us to launch our journey as husband and wife.
